THE places where East Lothian residents with no Covid-19 systems can go to get a test for the virus over the next week have been revealed.

A permanent testing centre is now open at the former Stoneyhill Community Centre in Musselburgh, found near Musselburgh Rugby Club.

It is open Tuesdays-Saturdays from 11am to 6pm; no appointment is required.

The facility is open to residents from across the county as long as they have no coronavirus symptoms, including a fever, cough, or loss or change of taste or smell. Those with symptoms must book their test at one of the dedicated testing centres for those displaying symptoms.

Alongside this, a number of mobile testing units will be open and operational across several towns. Most are open 10am-6pm.

Tomorrow (Friday), Saturday and Sunday, the mobile testing units will be at the Loch Centre in Tranent and at Dunbar Leisure Pool.

On Monday, they will be at both Prestonpans and Longniddry Community Centres. The unit at Longniddry closes at 3pm.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and next Thursday (May 20), the mobile testing units will be at The Mercat Bar and Grill in Whitecraig and at the Port Seton Centre.

Then next Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 21-23), the units will be at the Loch Centre in Tranent and Dunbar Leisure Pool.

Residents can also order home testing kits and have them delivered to their home. See gov.scot for more information.

People can get tested more than once and can also attend if they have already received a coronavirus vaccine.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “The virus still presents a risk. Almost one in three people who have Covid-19 don’t have any of the usual symptoms but are potentially passing the virus on to loved ones and people in the community. That's why local arrangements are in place for people without symptoms to get tested.

“This means people can find out if they are positive and take immediate action to stop the spread of the virus to others by self-isolating.”
