A TOTAL of six positive cases of coronavirus were recorded in East Lothian in the latest seven-day period, according to the latest data from Public Health Scotland.

The data applies to the seven days between May 2 and 8. It gives East Lothian a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 population of 5.6 and a seven-day test positivity rate of 0.3 per cent.

Case numbers have remained in single figures for a number of days and were last recorded as being more than 10 between April 20 and 26, when 13 were recorded.

It also means that every part of the county recorded fewer than two cases each in the first week of May.

When compared to the rest of the Lothian health board area, all counties are in the same seven-day positive rate category. Midlothian's current seven-day positive rate per 100,000 population is 30.28, Edinburgh's is 18.67 and West Lothian's is 22.94.

With regards to vaccinations, the latest data shows that in East Lothian 66.5 per cent of people have received at least one dose, a total of 58,082 people.

A total of 29,683 have received two doses, 34 per cent.

These vaccinations figures are the highest in the Lothian health board area.

In East Lothian, all of those over 75 have received two doses and 96.7 per cent of people aged 70-74 have received two doses.

All of those over 60 have received at least one dose, with that number 99.7 per cent of those aged 55-59. The numbers of those having received two doses is 23 per cent and 20.9 per cent respectively.

A total of 99.4 per cent of 50-54-year-olds have received at least one vaccine dose, 18 per cent have received two; 41.5 per cent of 40-49-year-olds have received one dose, with the figures 27.8 per cent for those aged 30-39 and 19.8 per cent for those aged 16-29.

No Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in East Lothian since March 27.
