THREE cars from three neighbouring houses in Tranent were stolen in the same morning.

Three residents of Gavin’s Lee had a nasty wake-up call on Sunday when they each discovered they had had their car stolen.

The thefts are believed to have taken place at about 4.55am on Sunday.

The three cars in question are a white Audi A1 with the registration plate D16 TJJ; a navy BMW X3 with the registration RFS 38; and a grey Ford Fiesta with the registration LC14 BFO.

The houses were all broken into and are said to have had keys stolen, along with a purse from one of the addresses.

It is thought the cars were last spotted being driven on the Edinburgh City Bypass, heading towards Edinburgh.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An investigation is under way after three cars were stolen from Gavin’s Lee, Tranent.

“The thefts were reported to police on Sunday. Enquiries are ongoing.”
