YOUNGSTERS from a village’s primary school will fly the flag for East Lothian in a national final next month.

A team of P5 and P6 pupils from Saltoun Primary School came first in the Euroquiz heat and will now represent the county on June 14.

Euroquiz is a yearly competition run by SEET (Scottish European Educational Trust) for P6 pupils from all over Scotland.

It aims to widen the children’s knowledge of European geography, history, culture and languages.

A spokeswoman for the primary school said: “Saltoun Primary is a very small school with two multicomposite classes. The quiz is usually for P6 pupils but, because of our size, half of our team were from the younger age group of P5.

“The school staff are delighted with the team’s hard work and dedication, and we are all very excited about the final.

“Go Team Saltoun!”
