PEOPLE who find extra carrier bags during their spring cleaning are being asked to donate them to a food pantry in the heart of Tranent.

Volunteer Centre East Lothian is based on the town’s High Street and is home to Fa’side Community Pantry.

The pantry is open Mondays-Fridays, 10am-2pm.

While all donations are gratefully accepted, it is on the lookout for carrier bags which will be used to hand out items to the individuals and families it helps.

Pre-made bags are handed out at the centre door as visitors are not able to enter the building due to coronavirus restrictions. For more information, call 01875 615423.

There have also been some donations from local groups to the pantry.

Two boxes of children’s clothes were donated by Dougie Fergie on behalf of the Provincial Grand Lodge of East Lothian, and staff at Bridge Dental Care in Tranent donated several boxes of toothpaste.
