AS IT HAPPENED: SNP fall just short of Scottish Parliament majority after SNP win East Lothian

    - Paul McLennan wins East Lothian for the SNP, finishing with a majority of 1,179.
  • - Labour, which had held the seat since the creation of the Scottish Parliament, finish second, more than 7,000 votes ahead of the Conservatives in third.
  • - But defeated Labour and Conservative candidates Craig Hoy and Martin Whitfield win seats on the South Scotland list.
  • - Colin Beattie holds Midlothian North and Musselburgh for the SNP.
