UP TO 90 JOBS will be created at a North Berwick hotel when it opens in mid-July – about 30 more than before it closed.
The Marine Hotel on Cromwell Road closed in January and is currently undergoing a major refurbishment.
Much of the B-listed building’s interior will be completely revamped, including the entrance, lobby, reception, restaurant/bar, spa and fitness centre. Its rooms are also undergoing redecoration works and are set to increase to more than 90.
The hotel, which was bought from Macdonald Hotels in February last year by Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital, is reopening to the public on July 15.
Before that, it is hosting a recruitment fair on Tuesday, from noon until 7pm. A variety of jobs are on offer across a range of departments.
Last November, the Courier revealed that 50 jobs were to go prior to the hotel’s closure, something that was described as “probably necessary” at the time by hotel bosses.
The recruitment fair will be an interactive event, conducted in a speed dating style format. The hotel is welcoming people to sign an application form on-site for an informal chat with the various heads of department.
Applicants are then invited to leave their CV for further assessment, ahead of being contacted later by the hotel, as well as right to work documentation.
People are asked to wear a face covering and social distancing will be in place. Spaces can be booked by scanning a QR code, with those wanting more information but unable to attend the event asked to email careers@marinenorthberwick.com
