PIZZA fans have cheesy smiles and are counting down the days until Domino’s new store in Tranent opens… and the big day is less than two weeks away.

Planning permission for the shop, which is at 25 Bridge Street, was approved in 2019 but Domino’s had kept tight-lipped on when it would open until now.

The store has recently started advertising for staff. Those interested in a position in-store are asked to contact the recruitment team on 07584 200022.

The Courier can now reveal that the store will open on Monday, May 17.

A total of 25 new jobs have been created, including pizza chefs, customer service colleagues and delivery drivers.

Currently, East Lothian’s only Domino’s store is on Musselburgh's North High Street.

But with the opening of the Tranent venue, pizza lovers in the area will be able to enjoy firm Domino’s favourites, along with new innovations.

And as well as being able to collect, delivery will be available to Haddington, something not available from the Musselburgh store.

To celebrate the big day, there are going to be special promotions on opening week.

Customers will be able to get 50 per cent off pizza when they spend £30 or more; or any pizza any size for £7.99 when collected.

The offers run until May 24. People are told that the best way to make the most of the offers is to collect in store, order online, order via the Dominos app or call the store on 01875 615111.

And in recognition of Domino’s support for frontline workers, the store will also offer anyone with a valid NHS card a free small cheese and tomato or pepperoni pizza in-store until May 24.

Palwindar Singh, area manager, said: “We’re excited to be opening a new store in Tranent to service new delivery addresses in the Haddington area, which will make it even easier for our loyal customers to get their hands on our fresh, piping-hot, homemade pizzas.

“We’re also on the lookout for exceptional people to be part of our in-store team, including pizza chefs, customer service colleagues and delivery drivers.

“More than four in five of our store managers start their own career out as team members. These roles offer a great opportunity for ambitious people looking to grow and build a career with the nation’s best-loved pizza company.”
