THE number of Covid-19 cases in East Lothian has dropped by two-thirds in a week, with zero deaths recorded in April.

Two weeks ago, between April 19 and 25, East Lothian recorded 13 positive cases of Covid-19, giving a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of 12.1, much higher than it had been a week earlier.

Three parts of the county were also listed as areas of concern: Pinkie Braes, Ormiston and Wallyford/Whitecraig.

But fast forward seven days and in the seven days between April 25 and May 1, only four positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the whole of East Lothian.

This gives the county a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of just 3.7.

When compared to other parts of the Lothian health board, East Lothian has the second lowest figures.

Midlothian recorded only two positive cases during the same seven-day period, giving it a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of 2.16, Edinburgh’s seven-day rate is sitting at 26.29 and West Lothian’s at 24.58.

The last recorded Covid-19 death in East Lothian was on March 27.
