MOTORISTS parking near a primary school are being asked to park “considerately” with pupils now back at school.
Constables Cunningham and Nixon, from the community policing team, were patrolling outside schools in Prestonpans last Monday morning.
Complaints have been made to police about irresponsible parking and speeding in the area around Preston Tower Primary School.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “These officers are asking road users to park considerately and not near the school gates as this endangers the lives of our children.
“Lots of cars create congestion, making it unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists and very difficult for pupils to cross the road.
“These officers will soon be doing a joint initiative with the Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO) at Preston Tower Primary School in order to raise awareness of this issue.”
