SOCIAL media is being boycotted by Musselburgh Rugby Football Club this weekend as part of the wider sporting community effort to combat online hate.
Calum Johnston, the club's media manager, said: "This decision was made yesterday following a statement from Scottish Rugby suggesting clubs to follow suit, as the SRU and both professional rugby clubs (Edinburgh and Glasgow) have also done the same.
"We believe that sport as a whole is a place for everyone to feel welcome and that no individual should be treated to any kind of hate, whether that is online or in person.
"Our key values of Integrity, Respect and Inclusion highlight this message and we felt it was the right thing to do."
The boycott runs from today (Friday) to Monday.
