EAST Lothian Council-run libraries and museums are planning and preparing to reopen as Scotland gears up to enter Level 3 restrictions from Monday, which will see many open for the first time this year.

But they will not all open on Monday and will instead reopen on a phased basis over three weeks.

On the week beginning May 3 (the week after restrictions have eased), Haddington and Musselburgh libraries will reopen. Both will be open Mondays-Fridays 10am-1pm and 2-4.30pm.

The John Gray Centre’s museum in Haddington will be open Wednesdays-Fridays from 10am, with the last appointment at 4pm, but will be closed for lunch 1-2pm. The local history service will operate on the same basis and on the same hours but will be closed on Wednesdays.

John Muir’s Birthplace Museum in Dunbar will be open the same week, Wednesdays-Saturdays at 10am, with the last appointment at 4.15pm.

On the week beginning May 10, both Dunbar and Prestonpans Libraries will be opening. Both will be open with the hours 10am-4.30pm, and will be closed between 1pm and 2pm.

Dunbar Library will be open Mondays-Fridays, and Prestonpans Thursdays and Fridays only.

On the week beginning May 17, North Berwick and Tranent libraries will be reopening, also between 10am and 4.30pm, with a closure between 1pm ans 2pm.

North Berwick will be open Mondays-Fridays, and Tranent Mondays and Tuesdays only.

All venues will be open for browsing, click and collect, and PC usage.

Haddington, Musselburgh, Dunbar and North Berwick libraries will all also be open on a strict quota system and a one-way system will be in place around the libraries. All services will also be provided via appointment.

North Berwick library will also offer blue badge support.

More details are to be released in due course.

For click and collect services, people will only be allowed up to six titles or items per person; they can then be collected from each library.
