FIREFIGHTERS were called out on Sunday afternoon to a local beauty spot as East Lothian welcomed an influx of visitors.
Concerns had been raised that the relaxing of travel restrictions would see a number of people heading for the county’s coastline.
The emergency service was called out to Tyninghame Woods on Sunday in response to a blaze that had “got out of control”.
Firefighters from Dunbar and East Linton were called out to the blaze.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.42pm on Sunday to reports of a fire in the open near Tyninghame Beach.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire in a wooded area which covered approximately 20m by 20m.
“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.
“There were no reported casualties.”
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council Countryside Rangers said: “Despite our 'no fires' post and on-site signs, there were still people lighting fires and having barbecues in inappropriate places.
“The fire brigade were called out to one incident of a fire that had got out of control.
“Please do not light fires in woods or on grasslands.
“Everywhere is bone dry at the moment and there is a high risk of fires causing significant damage.”
