EAST Lothian recorded just five positive cases of coronavirus in the seven days up to April 16, the lowest weekly total since last summer.

Throughout the pandemic, data on the number of coronavirus cases and deaths for Scotland and each local authority area has been recorded and published by Public Health Scotland.

Five cases gives East Lothian a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of just 4.67 and a seven-day test positivity rate of 0.4 per cent.

As well as the data for the county as a whole, each local authority area is split into zones, with people able to find out the number of positive cases in the area they live.

For several months at least, one part of East Lothian was an area of concern – when a zone records more than three positive cases in seven days.

But now no part of East Lothian is an area of concern, as each recorded fewer than two positive cases in the last seven days.

Where fewer than two positive cases are recorded, the number is shown as 0-2 to protect patient confidentiality.

According to the data, the last positive test in East Lothian was recorded last Tuesday (April 13).

Midlothian also recorded five positive cases over the same time period, with a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 people of 5.41; Edinburgh’s seven-day rate is currently 14.67 and West Lothian’s 39.87.

The number of coronavirus deaths in East Lothian for April remains at zero, with the last Covid-19 death in the county recorded on March 27.
