THE Lobster Shack in North Berwick has been named one of the best beach shack restaurants in the UK by Conde Nast Traveller, a travelling and tourism magazine.

The news comes after North Berwick was voted the best place to live in Scotland by The Sunday Times.

The Lobster Shack opened in 2012 and is based in the town’s harbour; on its busiest days, it can serve as many as 400 customers.

The Lobster Shack features on the list for the second time, joining 11 other beach shack restaurants in places such as Devon, Cornwall, St Monans and Anglesey.

The magazine praised the Lobster Shack’s use of local produce and its new sheltered seating area.

Owner Stirling Stewart said: “We are thrilled to be contributing to the global recognition of our much-loved town, hard-working team and local fishermen.

“North Berwick has always been such a popular destination in East Lothian and we think it’s great for the community and local economy, both of which have taken a hit this past year.

“We are proud to play a part in our town’s continued success and even prouder of the people who help us to make that happen.”

The Lobster Shack will fully reopen this month.
