TWO off-road bikes have been seized and a driver reported to the Procurator Fiscal after police were called out to Macmerry.

Roads policing officers from Edinburgh and Dalkeith highlighted the issue on Saturday after reports of bikes being used in farmers’ fields and causing damage.

A stinger – a hollow spike tyre deflation system that punctures the tyres of a vehicle and slowly deflates them, bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop – brought one bike to a halt and the other was found abandoned.

A police spokesperson said two men were traced by police dogs, with one reported to the Procurator Fiscal for “numerous offences”.
