A TEENAGER who was involved in stealing alcohol from two county premises has been admonished and warned about her future behaviour.

Murran Hannah broke into Gullane Golf Club and the farm shop at Fenton Barns and made off with alcohol while in the company of Ryan Gillies, her partner at the time.

Hannah, who can now be named as she recently turned 18, admitted the offences last year and sentence had been deferred for her to be of good behaviour.

Gillies, 22, also admitted the same offences, along with a charge of culpably and recklessly setting fire to the farm shop at Fenton Barns, on a previous appearance at court.

Gillies was jailed for 21 months for his part in the incidents when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last September.

Hannah was in the dock at the Capital court last Wednesday, where Sheriff Chris Dickson was told that the teenager had stayed out of trouble in the intervening six months.

The sheriff was also told that the couple had since split up and that she did not have any contact with Gillies anymore.

Sheriff Dickson told Hannah, of Dundas Gardens, Gorebridge, Midlothian, that she had been involved in “serious offences” but acknowledged she had not been convicted of the fireraising charge.

The sheriff added: “Given your very young age, no previous convictions and being of good behaviour, I will admonish you.”

Hannah pleaded guilty to breaking into Gullane Golf Club and stealing a quantity of alcohol on December 23, 2019.

She also pleaded guilty to breaking into the farm shop at Fenton Barns and stealing a quantity of alcohol on December 24, 2019.
