A FORMER depute head at North Berwick High School is returning to take the top job.

Michelle Moore has been named as the school's new headteacher, succeeding long-serving head Lauren Rodger in August.

Parents and carers of pupils were informed of the news today in an email by Lesley Brown, East Lothian Council's education director.

It said: "Following a successful recruitment campaign for the post of headteacher of North Berwick High School, involving parent council representatives, elected members and education officials, with input from a pupil panel, we are delighted to advise you that Ms Michelle Moore is the successful candidate.

"Ms Moore is currently a quality improvement officer with City of Edinburgh Council, a post she has held for over four years.

"Formerly she was depute headteacher at North Berwick High School for just over three years.

"Ms Moore’s appointment is subject to normal pre-employment checks and she will take up post at the start of the new school session in August."

Mrs Rodger announced in February that, after eight years as headteacher and 15 years at the school, she had decided to retire.
