A family friendly festival has been announced for Gosford House this summer - headlined by chart-toppers Clean Bandit and the Ministry of Sound orchestra.

Out East, due to take place on August 6 and 7, is described as a "fun-loving festival for the carefree, the intrepid and the brave", offering a "glorious blend of music, arts and culture, wellbeing, incredible food and open-air dancing".

The first headliner to be announced is Ministry of Sound, a 34-piece orchestra performing iconic dance classics, completely rearranged and reinterpreted for 2021.

The very best tunes, say organisers, will be recreated in a breathtaking orchestral performance, set in the "socially distanced" grounds of Gosford House (pictured below), by Longniddry.

The second act to be announced is Clean Bandit (DJ set), who have consistently pushed the boundaries of modern pop with their diverse blend of influences.

‘Rather Be’, ‘Rockabye’ and ‘Symphony’ are just some of the multi-million selling hits that have seen them secure nine top-five singles in the last six years.

They have collaborated with artists including Jess Glynn and Sean Paul, and Julia Michaels on their most recent track ‘I Miss You.’

Shane Grieve, festival director, said: "We wanted to create something that was a celebration of good times.

"We’ve sourced a mix of live performances and entertainment to make sure that there’s something special for every member of the family."

"It is also extremely important to us that we look out for each other so we have launched a friendship policy.

"We want everyone that visits Out East to have the best time - but not at the expense of others. There will of course be official security at the festival but we’re asking everyone to take responsibility for their behaviour and to look out for each other.

"If someone can’t get home, are lost or are feeling vulnerable then we ask you to help us keep them safe.

"Find a security guard, offer them a smile - let’s have lots of fun and let’s do it together."

One of the last major outdoor events to be held in the grounds of Gosford House was in October 2018 at the Hot Dub Stein Machine music and Oktoberfest-themed beer festival.

It ended in tragedy when festival-goer Scott Calder, 23, from Edinburgh, was found unconscious on the beach near Longniddry Bents No. 1 car park by a member of the public at about 7.45am the next morning and later died.

Local food and drink offerings as well as some surprise experiences and stages will also be on offer at Out East, say organisers.

There will be a main stage, an arts and culture stage, a 'wellbeing area', a kids' stage, food and drink area, woodland trail, and a campsite.

A limited number of early bird tickets go on sale tomorrow. A weekend ticket is £93.50 for an adult, £48.50 for 10-17 year olds, while children (under-10) go free.

A day ticket is £57.50 (adult)/£30.50 youth.
