A MYSTERY Good Samaritan has been praised after clearing snow from outside homes in Haddington.
Residents across the county woke last week to find Storm Darcy had hit and left behind a blanket of snow.
East Lothian Council staff were battling to keep key routes clear but Jan Wilson, former long-standing chairwoman of Haddington’s community council, highlighted that snow had been cleared outside her home on the town’s Sidegate Lane.
She said: “I wondered if someone from East Lothian Council came up our lane because I caught it on CCTV and they cleaned our lane out?
“The person had an orange high-vis vest on with silver flashing and I just wondered if it could have been someone from East Lothian Council?
“Why they would do it I don’t know, but thanks so much.”
Chris McEwan, chairman of the community group, stressed that there were a number of people in the town who had stepped up to keep roads and paths clear.
He said: “There have been quite a lot of good citizens clearing up roads, streets and paths.”
