STUDENTS at Dunbar Grammar School have been urged to enjoy their break this week after “a challenging and uncertain time”.

Pupils at the town’s secondary school are on their February break after an opening term of 2021 that has seen many of them not step inside a classroom.

Claire Slowther, headteacher at the school, encouraged the youngsters to enjoy the break.

Last Friday, she said: “We have reached half-term and it has been quite an extraordinary four weeks for all in our school community.

“I know that this has been a challenging and uncertain time for many, but I am immensely proud of how the students of Dunbar Grammar have displayed resilience, determination and positivity.

“We have been impressed with your engagement with remote learning and how you have adapted once again, to this different way of learning.

“Next week there will be no work set for any students and it is important that all young people take the time to have a rest and an important break from screen time.”

Mrs Slowther also took the time to thank parents and carers for their ongoing support.
