SOME residents in East Lothian who saw their bin collections delayed last week due to the weather have seen them rescheduled yet again after they failed to be collected for a second time.

Snow last Thursday disrupted some bin collections in the county, with recycling boxes and food waste due to be emptied yesterday (Sunday) and green bins either Friday or today (Monday).

However, those in North Berwick and East Linton woke up this morning to see that their recycling boxes had not been emptied as initially told.

They are now being told to leave the boxes at the kerbside where they will be emptied tomorrow (Tuesday) instead.

The weather is once again the reason for them not being picked up.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “Unfortunately our contractor Biffa was unable to uplift boxes from areas in East Linton and North Berwick due to challenging widespread winter weather conditions.

“They will instead carry out collection tomorrow (Tuesday) and residents with uncollected boxes have been asked to present their recycling boxes kerbside for the morning.”
