SOME residents in East Lothian woke up to more than just snow this morning (Thursday) after a power cut affected two postcode areas.

Those living in the EH39 and EH41 areas of North Berwick, Haddington, the surrounding areas and those under EH29 5BE were affected.

SP Energy Networks said it had “no advance warning” of the power cut and only became aware of it shortly after 9am today (Thursday).

Attempts were made to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, with an emergency response team sent out to investigate and repair the fault.

It is thought a grounded overhead cable was the reason for the disruption, with one near Kinduff Farm among the last to be repaired.

Now all homes affected have see their power restored.

An SP Energy spokesperson said: “Our team worked hard to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible.

"Our team has managed to restore power to the properties in the area.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
