A PRESTONPANS driver who was caught behind the wheel while disqualified and unfit to drive through drink or drugs is facing a further lengthy road ban.

Andrew Yorkston, of Park View, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week to admit a series of driving offences.

Yorkston pleaded guilty to driving while unfit to do so through drink or drugs at Newcraighall Road in Edinburgh on January 23 last year. He also admitted to a charge of driving a vehicle with no insurance that day.

The 30-year-old also admitted to driving a vehicle with 409mg of benzoylecyonine in his system at Bankton Terrace in Prestonpans on January 28 last year. The legal limit is 50mg.

And he also pleaded guilty to a third offence of driving a vehicle without due care and attention, with a revoked licence and failing to stop for uniformed police officers at the A199 Musselburgh to Tranent road and Birsley Brae near Tranent on April 9 last year.

The court was told that Yorkston had paid £900 for his Honda Civic, which has now been confiscated by the authorities.

Yorkston appeared in front of Sheriff Peter McCormack, who handed out an interim ban and deferred sentence to March for reports and a drug treatment and testing order assessment to be prepared.
