The unusual theft is highlighted in a report to the town’s community council, which meets this evening (Monday).
Police noted that 14 20-litre drums of cooking oil, valued at about £300, were taken from a storage shed to the rear of the Dunmuir Hotel, on the town’s Newhouse Terrace, on December 28.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
