POLICE were called out to breaches of Covid-19 rules in North Berwick after all of mainland Scotland was placed under Level 4 restrictions on Boxing Day.

Details of the incidents were included in a report sent to North Berwick Community Council by local officers last week.

On December 27, police were called to a breach of Covid regulations at a house on St Andrew Street.

Five young people were within the garden area of the property.

The rules were explained to all of those present and they all left with no issues.

At about 11.45pm on December 31, a large number of youths were on High Street, intending to 'see in' the New Year together.

Officers attended and engaged with the youths, explaining to them the reasons for not being in groups. They encouraged them to disperse to their relevant homes.

At about 12.45am on January 1, a group of youths was found within The Lodge Grounds by police.

They were also encouraged to head home.

No Covid tickets were issued due to the compliance of the youths.
