A PRESTONPANS man was caught breaching court bail conditions when police attended his partner’s home and found him there.

Craig Sheridan, of Harlawhill Gardens, was placed on a bail curfew regarding a separate offence last February and was told he must stay within his home address between 7pm and 7am.

But the 31-year-old travelled to his partner’s home in North Berwick on March 31 after she contacted him saying she was feeling unwell.

After assisting her, he intended to make his way back to Prestonpans in time to make the curfew but claimed he had missed his bus and returned to the woman’s home.

Police had cause to attend at the property and, after speaking to the woman, they discovered Sheridan within the home at about 6.50pm.

Lawyer Cameron Tait, defending, said that Sheridan “wouldn’t have made it home” in time when police caught him but added he was “not out in the street” and there had been “no further breaches” since.

Sheriff Donald Corke accepted the roofer’s reason for the breach and admonished him on the charge.

He said: “You had a reason but not an excuse for being at the address.

“But you have not breached since the order since March so I will simply admonish you.”
