POLICE forced entry to a home in Tranent on Hogmanay as part of an ongoing bid to tackle drugs in East Lothian.

A woman was charged with possession of controlled substances, while a man was arrested on an outstanding apprehension warrant.

Officers from East Lothian Community Action Team (ELCAT) and the divisional pro-active crime team had executed a misuse of drugs act warrant as part of Operation Juneau.

The multi-agency approach to tackling substance misuse in East Lothian has been running for several months and officers have confirmed it will continue in 2021.

Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell, local area commander, said: “Moving into 2021 we will step up our efforts to reduce the harm in our communities caused by drug misuse and continue to work in close collaboration with our partners.

“We have further enforcement planned and will continue our relentless effort to make East Lothian a safe place to live, work and visit.”
