THE community warden service at East Lothian Council took a break from regular duties to help East Lothian Foodbank.
The wardens received a request for assistance and helped the foodbank with its Christmas donations collections from the Tesco stores in Musselburgh, Haddington and North Berwick.
Mandy Smith, community wardens team leader, said: “The team were more than happy to assist such a laudable project that provides much-needed support to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.”
As well as collecting and loading the donations, the team also weighed the loads, which totalled 3,230kg.
Candace Higgins, foodbank director, added: “Quite simply, we wouldn’t have been able to cope without the incredible support of the community wardens.
“We cannot thank them enough for what they have done for us and in turn the East Lothian community, they are fundamentally wonderful people."
