A HYNDLAND secondary pupil has held a global charity fundraiser in honour of grandfather who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Lois Gunn enlisted the help of her pal Ella Bonnyman to host an online quiz night to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Scotland.
Sadly, 11-year-old Lois’ grandpa was diagnosed with the cruel disease several years ago which spurred the Hyndland Secondary pupils on to bring in the cash.
While remaining in their separate West End homes, Lois and 12-year-old Ella entertained guests from across Glasgow as well as Spain, Sweden, London and Forfar.
Lois’ proud mum Beatrix said up a JustGiving page to help the fundraising duo on their quest to raise £400 – in order to match a previous drive for Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children last year – but, the talented pair managed to smash their initial bid.

So far, the girls have raised a staggering £1834 and hope to make it to £2,000.
Beatrix said: “This year we have decided to do our annual fundraiser, an online quiz, for Alzheimer Scotland.
“This is a really important charity to us as Lois’s grandpa was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago.
“Everyone knows how difficult it can be for those affected and
we would like to help make a difference.
“We really appreciate your donation as everything we raise will help.”

The charity fundraisers entertained the crowd with a celebrity face swap round, a scavenger round and a “hilarious Donald Trump tweet round.
The cash will go towards the charity to help it continue in its work with those battling the disease.
As well as funding research into dementia, the charity provides support for patients, their families and their carers while also campaigning for better rights for those with the illness.
