A HANDFUL of winners have been selected for our Glasgow Times Bank on Us illustration competition.

Earlier this year, we asked children across the city to submit their own drawings to highlight the importance of our toy bank appeal to youngsters – and they didn’t disappoint.

We received hundreds of entries from budding artists who have helped showcase toy ideas for those looking to donate to our campaign.

The high calibre of entries meant our judges struggled to choose a winner.

However, we have selected five winners who will each receive a £50 prize.

The winners are as follows: Jayden Howieson, 10, from Murray Primary; Rhys Dempsey, 8, from St Charles Primary; Arron Hogan, 5, from St Charles Primary; Mia-Louise Bradley, 8, from St Conval’s RC Primary; and Joseph Cartwright, 9, from Our Lady of Peace Primary.

The Glasgow Times Toy Bank appeal has vowed to help save Christmas for our city’s children.

Glasgow Times:

Each year, thousands of families seek help from charities across Glasgow in a bid to cope with the pressure of Christmas.

However, the job losses and business closures brought about as a result of the coronavirus pandemic has meant toy banks are braced for an influx of those in need this year.

Last week, free donation bags were sent out with every newspaper to be filled with newly bought toys which can be donated to local toys banks or our corporate sponsors.

For those who would prefer to donate cash, a GoFundMe page has been set up while the shops remain closed during level four restrictions.

As previously reported, Scottish business man John McGlynn has vowed to match any donations the page receives up to £5000.
