THE Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick has reduced opening hours for the winter.

It is now open Thursday-Sunday, 10am-4pm, a change brought in in response to the current travel restrictions and significant drop in visitor numbers over the winter.

The change came into effect on November 16.

Susan Davies, CEO, said: “The ongoing impact of Covid-19 has been very challenging for our charity, as it has for so many other local businesses and organisations.

“Thanks to the generous response to our appeal [for financial support] and the emergency grant funding we were able to secure, we are in a much better position than we were at the start of the first lockdown.

“Our decision to change our opening times over these quiet winter months is to help ensure we remain in a strong position as we move towards the spring.

“Our aim is to protect the legacy of the charity through these turbulent times to allow us to continue our vital conservation and education work into the future.

“Our team have worked incredibly hard on our strict Covid health and safety procedures to ensure visitors and members feel reassured during their time with us.

“We have been delighted to receive so much positive feedback. It’s been lovely to welcome visitors back and we hope people continue to support us and enjoy our upcoming seasonal offers and events, while of course still respecting all Government guidelines on travel.”
