BOXING world champion Josh Taylor has enjoyed ring success of a different kind... after getting engaged.

The undefeated star got down on one knee in front of his long-time girlfriend Danielle Murphy yesterday (Wednesday) while on a luxury yacht in Dubai.

Danielle took to social media this morningto say: “02/12/2020, the day I said YES.

“One of the best days of my life, Josh pulled out all the stops and I couldn’t have asked for a better day!

“Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and love, I’m totally overwhelmed!

“It’s times like this that I wish heaven had a phone so I could phone big Jimmy [her late father] to tell him my best friend has made me the happiest girl on the planet.”

Josh, originally from Prestonpans but now living in Haddington, is the current holder of the WBA and IBF World Super Lightweight titles.

The 29-year-old is expected to step into the ring with Jose Carlos Ramirez, who holds the WBC and WBO World Super Lightweight titles, in the spring for a unification bout.

Josh also previously took gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 before turning pro.

He also posted on social media, saying: “So she just said yes.

“I finally plucked up the courage to ask my beautiful girlfriend to be my wife. Not before time though.”

Among those offering congratulations were his trainer Ben Davison, former world heavyweight champion David Haye and Josh’s former opponent Regis Prograis.
