A MUSSELBURGH man has been placed on supervision after he admitted a charge of domestically abusing his partner.

Daniel Scott, of Pinkie Place, repeatedly phoned and sent unwanted electronic messages to the woman over a five-week period last year.

Scott also attended, uninvited, at the woman’s home in Port Seton and uttered abusive remarks towards her.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court also heard that Scott entered the woman’s home without being asked to do so and attended at her relatives’ homes and asked for a key to her home.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at the Capital court earlier this year and he recently returned to the dock for sentencing.

Sheriff Adrian Cottam told Scott he must attend and engage with domestic abuse organisation Caledonian Men’s Programme to address his abusive issues. Sheriff Cottam also placed him on two years of supervision to monitor his behaviour.

The sheriff stopped short of issuing a non-harassment order but sentenced Scott to a conduct requirement that he is not allowed to approach or contact the woman.
