A KEEN musician managed to celebrate his 95th birthday despite lockdown, thanks to the ceilidh band of which he is a member.

David Robertson, a resident of North Berwick’s Astley House residential home, was treated to a mini gig by the Gullane Community Ceilidh Band, who set up outside the home – in a socially distanced way – to play for him last month.

And David, who according to a band spokesman is a “lovely fiddle player”, even joined in on harmonica.

The spokesman added: “Music has been David’s passion all his life. His mobility is not what it was but he still hugely enjoyed our efforts, and managed to join in playing along on the harmonica, which was an emotional, touching moment for us and the Astley House team and residents.”
