A HADDINGTON mum who attacked a teenager on the town’s High Street has been ordered to pay compensation.
Catherine Young, 30, left Emily Carr with clumps of hair missing following the assault on March 3 last year.
Young clashed with the 19-year-old after they met while Ms Carr was walking with friends in the town at about 1am.
Young, of Artillery Park, approached Ms Carr and began shouting about a mutual acquaintance before pulling her by the hair to the ground and attempting to kick her.
Young offered a guilty plea, despite being absent when the case called at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday.
Solicitor Mary Moultrie said that her client, a mother-of-three, had been upset by an alleged comment made about one of her friends. Sheriff Peter McCormack sentenced Young to pay Ms Carr £300 in compensation.
Young pleaded guilty to assaulting Emily Carr by pulling her by the hair to the ground and attempting to kick her on the head, all to her injury, at High Street, Haddington, on March 3 last year.
