POSITIVE coronavirus cases have been confirmed at three more East Lothian primary schools.

Parents and carers of youngsters at Dirleton and Athelstaneford Primary Schools, as well as Musselburgh’s Stoneyhill Primary School, received letters on Tuesday.

The letters, which are from the schools’ headteachers and NHS, offer advice and highlight the current situation.

The letter to parents and carers at Stoneyhill and Dirleton Primary Schools notes: “We are aware of a person in the school who has tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have been working closely with NHS Lothian Health Protection Team and following all national guidance.

“A number of people have now been contacted because they have been in close and sustained contact with the case and the tracking process is now complete.

“These contacts will need to self-isolate and appropriate guidance and advice has been given.

“If you have not been contacted directly to tell you your child is a close contact, then your child should attend school as normal if they are well.”

A similar letter has also been sent to the parents and carers of those affected at Athelstaneford Primary School.

It reads: “There has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.

“Following a risk assessment by NHS Lothian’s Health Protection team, it has been confirmed that the case has not been at school whilst they have been infectious.

“Anyone who has been in direct contact with the confirmed case have been contacted and will be staying at home for 14 days.

“The school remains open and if your child has not been contacted then they should continue to attend school if they remain well.”
