A NORTH Berwick schoolgirl who donated almost one foot of her hair to the Little Princess Trust is now fundraising to have a wig made.

Six-year-old Sophie Watson, a primary two pupil at The Compass School in Haddington, has been growing her hair since she was born and decided she wanted to donate it to the charity.

The Little Princess Trust makes wigs from real human hair for children who have lost their own due to illness or treatment.

Sophie’s hair got the chop on October 23 by Amanda Ramsay at Ewan’s Barber’s on High Street, with 11.5 inches being donated.

Sophie was inspired to donate her hair by a friend who had also done so last year.

However, simply donating her hair was not enough for Sophie.

One wig costs about £550 to make, so she decided she would raise that amount to get the wig made.

Mum Tess, a high school teacher, said: “We couldn’t be more proud of Sophie – it was a very kind and special thing to do.”

Sophie has smashed her target and raised more than £800. Donate at justgiving.com/fundraising/sophiewatson2020
