THICK fog failed to stop Dunbar’s RNLI crew from rescuing a stranded fishing boat on Monday night.
The trawler suffered a burst steering pipe, which left its rudder stuck hard to the starboard side, near the town’s harbour.
UK Coastguard paged for the all-weather lifeboat (ALB) at 5.20pm to tow the 11.5-metre vessel back to harbour.
A spokesman for the voluntary crew said: “After launching from Torness, the ALB reached the boat, which was sitting just north of the harbour, at 6.05pm and quickly set up a tow.
“In thickening fog, the lifeboat crew brought the trawler into the harbour at 6.25pm and guided it to a safe berth.”
The ALB then returned to Torness, where the crew refuelled and readied the boat for future service.
