IN THE past three days, five people have been arrested in connection with drugs-related offences as work on Operation Juneau continues, police have said.

In an update on the operation’s success yesterday (Friday), which aims to not only get drugs off the streets but help and rehabilitate those who are caught up in drugs misuse, a series of drugs warrants have been executed in towns across East Lothian.

The warrants targeted those who sold, manufactured and controlled drug supply.

Since its last update on Wednesday, several search warrants have been executed by local police officers, drugs have been seized and five arrests made, alongside several targeted patrols within local communities.

A spokesperson for East Lothian Police said: “Officers are continuing to target the harm caused by substance misuse, as well as looking to new and innovative ways of providing help to those affected by drug misuse.

“Looking ahead, Operation Juneau will evolve into a new East Lothian multi-agency taskforce which aims to reduce the harmful effects of long-term substance misuse on the individual and the wider community.”
