NO NEW deaths of people living in East Lothian have been recorded as a result of Covid-19 since the middle of July.

Despite a rising number of positive cases across Scotland, the National Records of Scotland said its most recent numbers for deaths in East Lothian up to October 11 remained at 82, the last recorded death in the week ending July 19.

In the first seven days of the month (October 1-6), 41 cases were recorded in East Lothian; in the second week (October 7-13) that number had risen to 58, with zero positive cases recorded today (Wednesday).

Nine new cases were recorded in Prestonpans area and a further nine in the Whitecraig area.
