A DOG owner has been left distraught after a thief broke into her home and stole two of her puppies.

Debbie Smith discovered two of her German shepherd/Belgian shepherd-cross pups had been snatched when she returned to her home yesterday (Monday).

The mum of one posted a heartbreaking message on social media following the callous theft of the two dogs from her Inch View home in Prestonpans.

Debbie said: “Only pic I have – someone has been in my house and my neighbour's house and they have taken two of my female pups.

“Police have been called. This was between 1.45pm and 5.10pm – any help would he appreciated.”

She later posted: “I actually do not feel safe in my own house.”

Following Monday’s theft, Debbie called in police ,who have now launched a manhunt for the “despicable” thief.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “About 5.50pm on Monday, officers received the report of the theft of two German shepherd/Belgium shepherd-cross pups from a house in Prestonpans.

“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing.”

Nursing home care assistant Debbie told friends she was “absolutely devastated” by the theft and added that there had been no witnesses.

Debbie, 31, added: “I’ve never been so scared in all my life. I cannot believe someone has come in my house. Imagine me [and my son] was here.”

Locals in the town have also slammed the callous thief after Debbie posted details of the incident on social media.

And David Scott added: “How could someone do that? Really despicable to steal two young dogs like that. Hope the police get them.”
