BUDDING bakers have been urged to follow in the footsteps of a Prestonpans teenager and show winning a competition is a piece of cake.

Grace Warnock was last year’s ‘Contini Bake Off’ winner, after defeating contestants of all ages.

The 14-year-old came out on top in the contest, arranged by Edinburgh’s Scottish Café and Restaurant, after impressing the judges with her trifle, banoffee, apple pie and lemon meringue cupcakes.

The Preston Lodge High School pupil, also known for her campaign for ‘any disability’ signs for toilets and other public spaces, had been baking with her mum since the age of three.

Located within the Scottish National Gallery on the Mound, The Scottish Café is owned by Victor and Carina Contini.

Carina said: “Last year, Grace Warnock dazzled us with her baking talent.

“This year, we’d be keen to see more entries from schools, families, grandparents and their grandchildren of all ages.

“We look forward to showcasing Scotland’s best home bakers.”

Entrants must live in Scotland and love home baking. Entries from children must be supported by a parent, guardian or teacher.
