ONE of East Lothian’s longest-serving community council chairpersons has confirmed she hopes to enter a 25th year at the helm of her group.
Jan Wilson had planned to step down from Haddington and District Community Council but had a change of heart amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Haddington town centre.
Mrs Wilson, who joined the community council in October 1994, said she wanted to remain as chairwoman and believed that when coronavirus was hopefully more under control in the months ahead then the issue of town-centre parking would come to the fore again.
She said: “If I do get nominated, I will take it on.”
The mum-of-two succeeded Malcolm Lyons as chairperson in 1996 and has been at the helm of the group ever since. The community council will host its first-ever virtual annual general meeting on October 13 at 7pm.
