AN INITIATIVE giving out fresh, tasty dinners for people to cook from scratch has received a cash boost.
East Lothian Sunday Fresh Chicken Dinner Boxes was given £800 by members of Lodge Nisbet, No 1112, Tranent.
The food group’s volunteers provide people who are struggling with fresh food boxes to cook a traditional Sunday dinner.
The scheme was set up last year by Prestonpans’ Jane Russell.
The group also receives donations of toiletries and cleaning products, which are added to the boxes. Recipe cards with ideas for how to make the fresh food go further are also included.
Jane thanked members of the Lodge for the donation and said: “We are over the moon with this very generous donation, which will provide 90 families with our fresh dinner boxes.”
