A TRANENT man jailed in Corfu after going to visit his step-mum and dad has been released from jail.
Conor Howard was bailed by Greek judges yesterday (Thursday), weeks after arriving on the island.
The 27-year-old was taken into custody over an empty cannabis grinder found in his bag almost a year ago during a stop off in Qatar.
Earlier this month, he had gone out to visit Robert and Adele Young on holiday but on arriving at the island’s airport he was told there was an international arrest warrant out for him from the Qatari government.
The former Ross High School pupil had stopped off in Qatar last October when he was returning from working in Australia as a project manager.
Conor was bringing back the grinder as a gift for a friend.
When he was stopped in Qatar, authorities spotted the item.
Family said the issue was dealt with at the time and they thought that was the end of the matter.
However, an international warrant for drug trafficking was put out, with it feared that Conor could spend a year in a Qatari jail.
