A WALKER had an outing to remember after needing assistance from an ambulance and two Coastguard crews after sustaining an injury.

At 11.50am on Friday, Coastguard  teams from North Berwick and Fisherrow were called to the beach at Prestonpans to assist an ambulance crew with the injured walker.

Both crews helped in packing and transfering the casualty alongside the ambulance special operations response team.

The walker was then freed using the ambulance service's off road wolverine all-terrain vehicle.

A spokesperson for North Berwick Coastguard said: "We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

"Remember if you see someone or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, cliff, mud or on the sea. Dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. If in doubt, call!"

A spokesperson for Fisherrow Coastguard added: "The team have remained fully operational during the current health crisis and are able to quickly assist other agencies or the local communities we serve.

"Some recent calls have included medical incidents, rescuing animals and persons/vessels reported to be in difficulty on our coast."
