EVER dreamt of your own swimming pool? Well East Lothian now has the next best thing with families able to book designated areas of public swimming pools for their very own use!

Leisure centre operator enjoyleisure is re-opening its sports centres on Monday and re-starting many of its non-contact fitness classes - all socially distanced of course.

In public areas, customers will be required to wear masks, but not during activities, while numbers in each centre will be limited and one-way systems and hand sanitiser stations will be in place.

Spaces have been marked out in halls for fitness classes according to social distancing guidelines, with each person allocated their own workout space.

Bookings for classes opened yesterday (Thursday) and, despite some technical issues, more than 2,000 activity bookings were taken.

As well as fitness classes, bookings can also be made for enjoyleisure’s gyms and swimming pools.

Physical distancing will take place in and out of the water with approved groups able to enjoy - for a set period of time at least - their very own section of swimming pool!

'Family tanks' will be operation - allowing families, households or group bubbles to book a designated area of a county swimming pool to enjoy their swim.

Swimming bookings last 45 minutes with 15 minutes allocated for changing and customers asked to come swim ready. Changing rooms and every area in each centre will be deep cleaned after each session.

Lane swim sessions will also be in operation. Pool user will still be able to shower before and after each session.

Enjoyleisure manages six sports centres in East Lothian: Aubigny in Haddington; Dunbar Leisure Pool; Loch Centre in Tranent; Meadowmill Sports Centre by Prestonpans; Musselburgh Sports Centre and North Berwick Sports Centre.

There are swimming pools at the Aubigny, the Loch Centre, North Berwick Sports Centre and Musselburgh Sports Centre.

The Mercat Gait Centre in Prestonpans is managed by FES Ltd. on behalf of East Lothian Council and also has a pool.

Enjoyleisure say staff “can’t wait” to welcome people back to its centres on Monday.
