NORTH Berwick Community Council has cancelled its Christmas lights switch-on event this year.
It comes after East Lothian Council called for such events, including Bonfire Night and Remembrance Sunday events, to not go ahead this year as restrictions around large gatherings remain in place.
The lights will, however, still be turned on and the group is working on creating a virtual event.
Judy Lockhart, community council chairman, called the news “sad”.
She added: “Fundraising this year is more important than ever as we won’t be able to have a collection at the switch-on. Please donate if you can, our lights are funded entirely by donations.”
