A POLICE officer required hospital treatment after he was allegedly assaulted in Musselburgh.

The incident on July 27 saw four people arrested.

Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell said: “At around 4.45pm on July 27, an officer responded to a report of a disturbance on Links Street, Musselburgh.

“Upon arrival he was assaulted and sustained an injury to his knee which required hospital treatment.

“Four males, aged 23, 17, 16 and 16, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident and will appear at court at a later date.”
